RANCHI: CRPF director general K Vijay Kumar asked the SPs of Naxalite-affected districts to adopt the standard operating procedure (SOP) for anti-Maoist operations "smartly", describing it as a smart operating procedure.
"The operation needs to be planned smartly and execution of the plan needs to be done smartly to avoid casualty and to get the maximum success," said Kumar who in the state for a three-day visit.

He was requested by DGP G S Rath to come to the meeting of the SPs of 18 Naxalite-affected districts to review the operations.
Kumar shared his experience in two frontal posts of the CRPF at the Saranda forest of West Singhbhum and at Hazaribag. He admitted that there were challenges but morale of the security personnel was very high and rebels were cornered in several areas. The meeting decided that based on intelligence which needs to be cross-checked the operation should be launched. Precaution should be taken before treading the Maoists path.
The SPs were asked by Rath to carry out more operations in Naxalite-affected areas. "Latehar operation was applauded and SPs were asked to carry out similar operations," said Jharkhand police spokesperson S N Pradhan. The meeting also decided that four CRPF battalions sanctioned by the Centre recently would be deployed on the Bihar and Orissa borders of the state. "Two battalions will be deployed on the Bihar border and another two on the Orissa border," said Pradhan.
Jharkhand police will develop the infrastructure based on the recent guidelines issued by the Union home ministry for increasing the infrastructure in CRPF camps and battalion headquarters.
"Though the infrastructure like fencing, toilets, drinking water, electricity and other logistics already exist, but now it will be according to the guidelines issued by the home ministry," said Pradhan.
